GO Transit said in a service update that trains will run only between Aldershot and Niagara Falls, with no service between Aldershot and Union Station.

Instead, GO buses will run between West Harbour and the Union Station Bus Terminal, stopping only at Aldershot, Burlington, Oakville and Clarkson to pick up and drop off passengers. Buses will not serve Appleby, Bronte, Port Credit, Long Branch, Mimico or Exhibition.

“During the closure, crews are conducting important construction work and necessary maintenance to support faster, more frequent service on the Lakeshore West,” GO Transit said in a construction notice.

Infrastructure updates and station renovations

Ongoing work includes building and updating rail infrastructure, renovating GO stations and building new train platforms.

The transit agency said passengers travelling from Exhibition GO should take the TTC’s eastbound 509 streetcar to Union Station or the 63 Ossington bus to Ossington Station on Line 2, then travel west to Islington Station. From there, riders can take the 110 Islington South bus to Long Branch GO and then MiWay bus Route 23 to Clarkson GO.

Customers travelling toward Hamilton should expect a 15- to-25 minute connection between replacement bus trips and regular Route 18 bus service at Aldershot GO, the agency said.

“Work may be adjusted, rescheduled, or extended due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances,” GO Transit said.

Train service will also be interrupted by construction on the first weekend of December.

Further information about alternate plans for getting around this weekend is available on the GO Transit website.
