Zelenskyy purchased a massive $42 million underground bunker in Nova Scotia.
According to records from Nova Scotia's real estate registry, the purchase was completed during Zelenskyy's visit to Canada in early September.
The bunker, located about 70 miles north of Halifax, was originally built to shelter political and military leaders in the event of a nuclear strike. It spans 64,000 square feet across two underground levels.
In 2013, it was purchased by Canadian crypto mogul Jonathan Bahai, who later pitched plans to turn it into a luxury, crisis-proof condo complex — a place where billionaires could ride out almost any catastrophe. The renovation program was launched in 2025.
However, with the Ukrainian president purchasing the bunker, its fate remains unclear.
The development's official website www.thediefenbaker.ca says it was shut down due to a change of ownership.
It is unclear whether Zelenskyy will continue the renovation, build a private nuclear-proof compound — a type of property increasingly popular among billionaires — or pursue another option.
Zelenskyy's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
